Missile Defense Agency Intelli-Avionics®

SIL won an MDA SBIR to develop Guidance, Navigation and Control avionics for missile defense missions.

2012

SIL won a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract from the Missile Defense Agency to develop Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) Avionics and hardware for advanced interceptors to support the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).

GN&C Avionics systems previously used in BMDS interceptors were too expensive, bulky, and heavy. They provide limited bandwidth, use excessive power and are sensitive to shock, vibration, radiation and electromagnetic interference (EMI).

SIL’s Intelli-Avionics® technology will provide innovative, reduced space, weight, power, and cost (SWAP-C) avionics for MDA target and interceptor missiles. SIL’s high performance technology is also modular, stackable, reconfigurable, and easily upgradable, significantly reducing GN&C development and lifecycle costs.
